Well, this post is late. Between wrapping up the end of the summer semester and traveling at the beginning of my summer break, I have not had time to really sit down and get started on any kind of post. But I’m happy to be back now.
In June I read nine books:
- Story Thieves by James Riley (middle grade)
- Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella (YA)
- P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han (YA)
- My Fairly Dangerous Godmother by Janette Rallison (YA)
- Ms. Marvel Vol. 2: Generation Why by G. Willow Wilson, illustrated by Adrian Alphona & Jacob Wyatt (YA graphic novel)
- Olivia Bean, Trivia Queen by Donna Gephart (middle grade)
- From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess by Meg Cabot (middle grade)
- Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot (adult)
- Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton (YA)
Once again, I have very strong feelings about most of these books, so I’m hoping I can share some of those feelings. I think I should be able to (and I’m going to make a concentrated effort to) because July tends to be a slow reading month for me anyway. I am also 100% burnt out on required reading, which means I’ve given up on reading books for my summer book club because (a) COMPLETELY BURNT OUT and (b) I have so much work to do to prep for the fall. There is one more of the books that I definitely want to read, though, so I will probably give that one a shot if I can get my hands on a copy. Also, and more importantly, I do want to generate content for this blog, and since I know I probably won’t be reading that much new stuff, I’ll have to look backwards a little bit. Which is fine! It’s good for me, no matter how much I try to avoid it.
I have been struggling a bit with this blog, of course, because I can’t decide what to do with it, but I talked to a good friend who basically told me to stop overthinking it and just update already. Which I will. I am also definitely going to switch to self-hosting within the next week, which means the look of the blog will change as well as my attitude toward it.
As for my reading challenges…the only one I have definitely finished is Diversity on the Shelf, which I am KILLING. I am 85% to my Goodreads goal for the year, so that’s good. I’ve also read 10 adult books this far, which means I should have no problem crushing that goal either. We won’t speak of the TBR Challenge.
Anyway, watch this space for some changes!
I agree with your friend. No more overthinking. This is your space and I can’t wait to see what you do with it. 🙂

Haha, thanks. Not overthinking is easier said than done, unfortunately. But I’m working on it!

When I stopped stressing about my blog and then moved to self-hosting and got a new look and a new feel, my blogging attitude did change and my love was renewed. Don’t give up, and goodluck with your move this week. 🙂

I love the advice to stop overthinking. I’m trying to do that as well since my thinking was equating to no posts at all.
