I am guessing this prompt means TV because, really, the two constants in my entertainment life are books and TV.
Even though it got canceled, I’m really happy The Grinder is a thing that happened.

Top Ten Books of 2016
No re-reads allowed, I am guessing. That would be a cheat, yes? So here are the ten books I’ve enjoyed the most (so far–there are still three days left!) this year. Also, there are really eleven books but two of them are by the same author, so.
Archie, Vol. 1: The New Riverdale by Mark Waid
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved this so, so much. It was everything I ever wanted from Archie but didn’t know I needed.
It’s Monday & I had a very merry Christmas
So Christmas was good here. It was very low-key. My daughter is home this year (she usually goes away), and we exchanged gifts around midday. (I had to wake her up–also par for the course with that one). I also spent most of the day cooking. Here’s something interesting: apparently, I *can* cook when I *want* to.
I made ham, macaroni and cheese, collard greens (using this recipe), and sweet potatoes. For dessert, I made an apple cake using my grandmother’s recipe, which I haven’t made in a long time. To make things interesting, I iced it using this caramel sauce. Everything turned out awesome. My daughter (who, as a general rule, hates everything I cook) loved everything, and my dad made sure to get some collard greens for the road. That was nice, especially since I was most worried about how they would turn out.

I Love December!
I actually do love December. It’s my second (or third???) favorite month. (After writing this, I might have to admit it may be my actual fave.) There’s so much goodness here. Several people I love have their birthdays during December. Christmas is in December (my fave holiday). Twinkly lights! Christmas trees! DECEMBER!

My 2016 Christmas Wish List
On my LiveJournal, I would post my Christmas wish list every year. I was considering doing the same here this year but frivolity has kind of gone by the wayside as I dealt with the aftermath of the election (and the end of my wacky semester). But then Morgan’s superfun post (which is a Top Ten Tuesday post!) reminded me not to let those jokers steal my joy, and I had fun thinking about what I wish I could get for Christmas. (And these are all firmly wishes because I don’t expect to get any of them for actual Christmas.) Also, it was always fun to look back on my lists from the previous years and see what things I did acquire–whether it was for Christmas or no.
A Month of Faves 2016: Books Outside My Comfort Zone
So, I was overthinking today’s prompt for A Month of Faves as I am wont to do, but decided to just talk about what it asks for: surprise finds this year. since I read across genres but also didn’t really read anything outside of my preferred genres/types of stories this year, these are less books outside my comfort zone and more books I expected exactly nothing from, so was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed them.

It’s Monday & I am plugging away at the Read Harder challenge
To be quite honest, though, I did feel like chucking it all after I made my post about my planned reads. I mean, do I really want to spend my winter break doing a bunch of required reading? Especially when there are other books I want to read but probably don’t meet the challenge? But then I had to remind myself that none of this is actually required, and I am doing this for fun (and also because I am committed to winning–even if it’s just at this one thing with no actual prize except the thrill of victory). Plus, some of these books I actually want to read. So on I go.

I have been collecting links to think pieces and articles that interest me since the election, and Andi’s post on her word for next year and the changes she’s made finally prompted me to post them all. Some of them are a bit dated, but they all spoke to me in different ways.
