It’s Monday & I’ll be here all week

And by “here,” I mean in Tampa, scoring AP exams.

Hello! This has been a wild weekend. First of all, I fully participated in a yard sale with friends on Saturday. I did make some money, which turned out to be a very good thing because it rained Saturday (we are in our monsoon season) and that reminded me to check the weather for the AP week. And guess what? It’s supposed to rain, rain, rain all this week, too.

And since I don’t have my car here, I realized that I should probably get some rain boots since I will have to walk everywhere.

Especially since our weather has been pretty much like this for the past week or so:

Graduations and The Good Place are my happy place

Today is the first day of my vacation where I actually had nothing to do. NOTHING. So I actually did nothing. I didn’t even go to the gym. This is the first time I haven’t left my house in…I don’t even know when. So that was exciting.

Last week was busy because we celebrated my daughter’s high school graduation on Thursday. Her father and paternal grandparents came into town. Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you’re her), the graduation was ticketed and at night, which meant the celebration was very small. I would have preferred a huge party with everyone we know in the whole wide world. She was happy to have it be just family. And that’s all that matters. I guess.

Down the TBR Hole #1

I just learned of Lia’s Down the TBR Hole while reading Roofbeam Reader’s TBR Pile Cleanse post, and since my to-read list on Goodreads is currently at 1,110 books, I figured I may as well give it a shot. Also, to echo Adam, who doesn’t love a good play on words/Alice in Wonderland allusion? (I also created this graphic, so you know I’m committed.)

The rules are:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf
  • Order on ascending date added
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

May 2017 Wrap Up (plus exciting news featuring people I like very much!)

My daughter’s high school graduation is in a couple of hours, so now seems like the perfect time to write a wrap-up post for May.

But first! Exciting bookish news:

1. My friend Jasmine’s book, The Wedding Planner, is available for preorder. Did you know it has FAKE DATING in it, which is one of my favorite tropes ever? Well, it does. So you should read it. If you are a #DiverseBookBlogger who likes romance, you will especially like it.

2. My former minister and still friend Vince (the one whose new church was featured on the Today Show) is co-editor of a devotional called Rise Up!: Spirituality for Resistance. You know, if you were ever wondering What Would Jesus Do? re: these modern times. (My favorite devotion title so far is “Naps of the Bible” because…well, naps.) Anyway, this book is also available for preorder, and there is also a preview of the book available so you can know if it’s for you (it is).

3. Not news, but: This tribute Rick Riordan wrote for his wife warmed my heart all the way through. Just..ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

Okay, now I can get to the wrap up.
