Well, I was all buoyed up to write this post, and then my daughter called and we had a lovely chat for about 30 minutes, and now I’m ready for bed. But! I have challenged myself to post every day, so answer the challenge I will. I’ll keep it pretty straightforward, though.
1. I have challenged myself to write a blog post every day during November. That means I have posted some things. Here are those things from last week:

2. I finished a book last week.
I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo

I have decided that my new favorite type of heroine is the high achieving whackadoo. They just delight me, and Desi is no exception.
The first 3/4 of this book was super zippy, but the back bit dragged a bit. Also, I didn’t get what was so great about Luca except that he was cute and could draw. Which, sure, but still. Plus, you know, if (view spoiler) On the other hand, Desi’s behavior wasn’t really above board either, so.
Also, A+++ for showing the downfalls of being a total people pleaser. Goo does a really good job of showing how subtle that need to people please can appear and the devastating effects. Desi’s whole deal–especially with her dad–is that she never wants him to worry or to disappoint him, which means she doesn’t always act in her own best interests. I don’t know if it was Goo’s goal to highlight why being a people pleaser is bad, but I saw it, and I appreciated it.
3. I am currently reading two books.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas: I put off reading this book, but a book club I want to join has picked it for the December book, so I decided to give it a shot. I like it so far. It’s super triggery for adult me, though I know deep down in my very soul that teenaged me would have loved reading a book with characters so similar to the people I knew growing up.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie: I am listening to this in part because I am super excited to see Murder on the Orient Express like the big nerd I am. But mostly because after seeing Ten: Murder Island, I want to read Gretchen McNeil’s Ten but only after reading the book it’s based on. I love retellings, so you know. I gotta do it right.
