It’s Tuesday. I missed posting yesterday.

I didn’t post yesterday because I crashed hard when I got home (fell asleep at 4:30, didn’t wake up until 11:30, went back to sleep at 1:30). I almost didn’t post today because I have spring breakitis (it’s a thing). However, I don’t want to miss more than one day in this self-imposed daily blogging challenge (I am already mad I missed yesterday), so here I am.

I had a host of things I planned to post about yesterday, so, of course, I cannot remember what they are now. Something about…feelings? Who knows?

What I do know is that I’m over my social media fast. I have not been on Facebook, which means I don’t know what’s going on with my friends (most of them live far away). I have checked my students’ Twitter accounts (which remain a delight–for the most part), and I went on Twitter for something else today, though I didn’t log into my account. I don’t miss the noise of Twitter, but I’m realizing that’s where I got most of my news, so that’s slightly depressing.

I went to water aerobics today and it was NOT the fun teacher who uses music. It was the teacher who I can NEVER FREAKING HEAR so hardly ever know what we’re actually doing in class so I just make up my own thing. This is why I go to yoga on Thursday nights now. So it was a bummer that she was leading the Tuesday water aerobics class. BUMMER, I SAY.

Anyway, I want to head to bed, so here’s my wrap up from last week.

Things I posted:

Books I read:

Long Way DownLong Way Down by Jason Reynolds

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars, rounding up for THAT ENDING

Yeah, so I really loved the end of the book. (Can you tell?) It really made the whole thing work for me.

This is a good look at toxic masculinity (soooo toxic) and violence begetting violence and thinking about when and how to break the cycle of violence and also seeing how toxic masculinity can make breaking that cycle seem impossible. Because there are rules, see?

I am currently listening to music in the car, which is starting to get on my nerves. My mom is coming on Thursday so there’s really no point in starting an audiobook now since she’ll be with me most of the time I’m in the car for the next two weeks.

I am also clearly in a mood.

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. Well, for all that you missed a day, I envy your consistency in posting. Every time I start a new blog, I’m lucky if I manage to update twice a year. You’re also a brave soul to do the social media blackout. I know I am totally addicted, but I’m so afraid of missing things that I just can’t seem to manage it.

    1. Yeah, I know what you mean. I was less concerned with missing things in FL (for obvious reasons) but now that I’m way over here, I feel very disconnected not being on FB, which is why I’m not sure if I’ll make it the whole month.

I challenged myself to post every day! Maybe doing one of them monthly challenges might help with your consistency? One month of Slice of Life and now I’m all, well, I can do another month easy.

  2. I’m rather new to Jason Reynolds’ books but they are SO AWESOME. I haven’t read this one yet but I really want to do that soon!
