I didn’t post yesterday because I made an executive decision to chill and enjoy my spring break without any deadlines. So that means I’m suspending my daily blogging for April–at least during spring break. Of course, I’m so far behind on grading (which I’m not supposed to be thinking about this week) that I reserve the right to, you know, just not blog every day for the remainder too. WE SHALL SEE.
(I like that I’m the only person who can make the decision and I’m still calling it an executive decision as if there’s a committee. It amuses me. I am easily amused, okay?)
Speaking of grading (which I’m not thinking about), I have not yet been able to not think about work. This is a problem. I need a better work/life balance. Or a stronger work detox. (I am working during summer. So I guess that won’t be it. I see you, winter break. I. SEE. YOU.)
Anyway, before I get into the weekly wrap-up, I was watching 227 this weekend and learned two things I didn’t know before:
- It’s based on the stage play Two Twenty Seven by Christine Houston.
- Jackée was the first (and is still the only, sigh) black woman to win Best Supporting Actress for a comedy.
Last week, I posted:
- It’s Tuesday. I missed posting yesterday.
- Keeping the Streak Alive
- 5 Random Things
- A confession
- Cheat day
Last week, I read:
Thick as Thieves by Megan Whalen Turner
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I read this whole book because I trust Megan Whalen Turner, she of the massive payoffs, but, man alive, I was completely bored through almost the whole thing. It starts and ends interestingly enough but the middle was such a slog.
Also, I know she can write whatever story she wants and tell it however she wants to, but I also found myself increasingly annoyed that she hints at all these fantastic and interesting female characters and yet.
Currently, I’m reading:
I need something fun to read, so I’m excited to read Amy Spalding’s The Summer of Jordi Perez (and the Best Burger in Los Angeles).
I’m with you, Akilah. I make executive decisions at my house all the time. I am the CEO there, after all. We might as well own it! 😉

Ditto what The Widow Badass said. I’m all about executive decisions and getting the staff to make my decisions a reality. As it should be.

[Keep in mind the staff I am referring to is me, wearing a different hat.]

Oh, I know. But an actual staff would be THE DREAM.

I’m hope you’re having a wonderful spring break. I have a terrible work/life balance too, even though it’s part of my organization’s MISSION to improve working conditions for women and their families. The problem is me, not my org. I take too much work home and think about it 24/7.

RE: 227…Reeeaaallly??? I didn’t know that either. On another note, when are you coming back to FB??? Is it an indefinite hiatus?
