Day 19: A song that soothes you #BlackMusicMonth #30DayMusicChallenge

About ten or so years ago, when I was having a really hard time, I created a gospel playlist to help me maintain balance. And while some of those songs will make my runners-up list, my main go to when I need soothing these days is “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley.

And y’all already know how I feel about “Jesus Be a Fence.”

Brief refresher from that post:

But MORE IMPORTANTLY, when my daughter is driving me crazy, I start humming it, and it helps me calm down.

See? It soothes me.

And when I need to get into gratitude, I will sure enough listen to “For Every Mountain” by Kurt Carr.

Or if you want to kick it old school and just kind of hum into it, there’s “Hallelujah Anyhow” by Thomas Whitfield. It’s long as all get out but effective. Plus, you can kind of hum into it because there are really only two lyrics.

I’m going to try to limit my post for  tomorrow to five songs, but I make no guarantees.

  1. Three Little Birds – awesome choice! Don’t know the others but will listen when I have time. I really should listen to more gospel as what little I have listened to, I really like…despite being a filthy heathen 😉
