Favorite Book Covers From Our Reads This Year #AMonthofFaves – what did you like about each one?
Aside from the millenial pink background and gold foil text, I love that this cover captures both Penny and Sam’s hair so accurately.
You know how I feel about black girls on covers. Add to that the poetry and the colors, and, well, perfection.
This cover is perfect because you know exactly what you’re getting into here. Summer! Lesbians! Romance! BURGERS! It’s so inviting and charming. I love it.
Look at that smile!
See above re: black girls on covers. I do enjoy this cover, but poor Michelle is not ever this carefree during the entire book, so it’s a little misleading.
Okay, the best thing about this is you automatically know what it’s about and who has a crush on whom. Plus, Chmakova totally captures the whole world fading away and all you can see/focus on is the person you have a crush on. And Jorge is even blushing a little bit! Love it.
This cover features the best character (Akilah, naturally), so that makes it an automatic fave. The only way it would be better is if she were front and center.
Love all of them too! I think Emergency Contact is my fave though.

I love seeing Black women with big hair in covers too. But my fav cover of the books I read this year is Nayyirah Waheed’s Salt. (Hope I spelled her name correctly). Something about the plain, white “wrapper” makes it so appealing!

I put “The Summer of Jordi Perez (And the best burger in Los Angeles)” on hold solely because of that cover and your description. Thanks!
