#MustReadin2018 Year End Check In

It’s time for the final Must Read check in!

Since my last check in, I have attempted no new books from the list, which means my total is 14/20 attempted.

Here are the books on my list:

This year went MUCH better than last year, mostly because this list was much more balanced. I am happy with my total. I think I’ll probably have some carry over to next year’s list because I want to read more plays, finish Jemisin’s trilogy, and get at The Mistress of Spices.

1. The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown

2. Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leah Bardugo

3. Sisterhood Everlasting by Ann Brashares

4. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

5.  The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

6. A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams

7. All These Things I’ve Done by Gabrielle Zevin

8. The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

9. Mr. Loverman by Bernardine Evaristo

10. Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds

11. Black No More by George S. Schuyler

12. The Mother of Black Hollywood by Jenifer Lewis

13. The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

14. Alex + Ada, Vol. 3 by Jonathan Luna

15. Princeless: Raven the Pirate Princess, Vol. 2 by Jeremy Whitley

16. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

17. After the Funeral by Agatha Christie

18. Thick as Thieves by Megan Whalen Turner

19. Giant Days, Vol. 3 by John Allison

20. Princeless, Vol. 5 by Jeremy Whitley

And yes, I am STILL mad at Sisterhood Everlasting. May my bitterness live on forever and ever, amen.

  1. Sometimes I am so pleased I put on a book to carry over and other times I continue to not read it and it begins to taunt me or maybe haunt me. Haven’t quite decided. But I have a feeling I am putting one title on my list for 3rd year in a row and this will be the year I finally read it! We will see. Loved having you be a part of our community!

  2. 14 out of 20 is outstanding! (Says the reader who often manages to complete less than half of the books on her list!) I’m trying to finish a couple more titles from my list and have Princeless to read this afternoon! So glad two of the remaining titles on my list are graphic novels! I think for next year, I’d like to try for a wider variety of genre and format on my list.

    1. I haven’t decided if I’m going to do Read Harder, but I may see if some of my want to reads overlap and plan that way. We’ll see.
