#AMonthofFaves A Day in My Life

This was Friday’s prompt!

FRI | Dec. 10 – #AMonthofFaves – A Day / Weekend / Week in the Life (give us a peek into your life)

I didn’t post this on the day of because my daughter came home for break, and my day absolutely got away from me, and then yesterday I had to catch up on work because it’s the end of the semester. I almost talked myself out of posting at all, but then I remembered I had already written everything down, so here’s what my day was like on Thursday, December 9, 2021.

8:30 a.m. – Daughter calls and wakes me up from weird dreams. It’s a little early for a phone call but because of aforementioned dreams I was in and out of sleep anyway and welcomed the distraction.

9 a.m. – Finish on phone w/daughter, do some scrolling, and try to figure out my day. The big question of the day was gym or no gym.

9:30 a.m. – No gym won. Get out of bed, shower.

9:55 a.m. – Eat breakfast while watching an episode of A Different World.

10:30 a.m. – Finish getting dressed.

10:45 am. – Realize I don’t feel good. Do a short yoga routine I found that helps with IBS pain. If anyone else is interested here’s the link:

The comments on that video are hilarious, btw.

11:05 a.m. – Realize I have a headache, take some Tylenol.

11:10 a.m. – Finally sit down to work but am not feeling it. Write an Instagram post instead while waiting for the Tylenol to kick in.

11:20 a.m. – Hop on Zoom for a work/grading session with some colleagues.

11:30 a.m. – Instagram post done! Finally get to work.

1:15 p.m. – Break for lunch.

2:15 p.m. – Prepare a package for the post office.

2:20 p.m. – I think, “Oh wait, before I go anywhere, I should probably see how much money I have.” So I balance my checkbook.

2:40 p.m. – Leave for dentist appointment.

3 p.m. – Arrive at dentist.

Some background: A few months ago, I got a dental implant. This appointment was for a follow-up. I had no idea what to expect because last time, I thought I was just getting a check up on how it was healing but no! The dentist actually inserted the abutment. (I do not blame the dentist for me not knowing. I’m pretty sure he and also the front desk person told me, but I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t ask what that meant.) It was a full on dental procedure with numbing and drilling and the point is I was NOT prepared for all of that. So, you know, this appointment could have been for anything because your girl never jots down what the appointment is for except “implant follow-up,” which is zero parts helpful when that can mean anything from a stitches check to, you know, the insertion of an abutment.

Anyway, this appointment was to get impressions made for the implant crown. It was more annoying than painful because the goop is tasteless but still gross, and, you know, it’s the dentist so people were poking around in my mouth,.

4:30 p.m. – Get back home and get on the computer to do some work.

5 p.m. – Actually start working after hopping on Zoom with a work colleague. What did I do in the half-hour between sitting down and that Zoom session? No one knows.

6:30 p.m. – Tell my colleague I’m done for the day but actually work an extra hour.

7:30 p.m. – Attend support group

8:45 p.m. – Eat some food, while catching up on The Masked Singer

9:15 p.m. – Head to Target to make a return, realize I don’t have receipt, rush home to get it before Target closes, remember app has purchase history, rush back to complete return using app instead of paper receipt

9:50 p.m. – Target return complete, head to Marshall’s for other return

10:20 p.m. – Get home, read news story friend who works at the school posted about the averted shooting at Embry Riddle, get sick to my stomach, donate money to Moms Demand Action

10:27 p.m. – Remember I’m supposed to be keeping track of my day 🤦🏾‍♀️, fill in blanks on my notes app, starting with the 3 p.m. entry

10:35 p.m. – Wrap Christmas presents since my daughter comes home the next day, and I don’t want to have to deal with trying to hide gifts, etc.

And then I probably went to bed at about 1 a.m. or so. A pretty lowkey day, all things considered.
