I’m borrowing today’s format from Elisabeth: Rose Thorn Bud. It’s a reflection exercise that asks you to think about one success, one challenge, and something with potential. Or what went well, what didn’t go well, and something you’re looking forward to.
Since I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t make a list, here are a few things that went well this past week:
The biggest rose, though, is that my daughter is finally off of probation at her new job, which means that she is now under protection of the union and also it will be incredibly hard for her to get fired. Also, we finally have access to her international flight benefits.
The second biggest is that I am almost done with the Canvas build of the redesign of my first-year composition class. My goal is to close the book on it by Wednesday so I can move on to designing the mystery lit class, which I’ll be teaching online for the first time in the fall.
I STILL HAVE NOT DONE MY TAXES. I am so annoyed by this. I usually have them in the bag by now.
Also, I’m going to have to be honest and admit that I have hit the wall with Slice of Life posts. I was s t r u g g l i n g to figure out what to post the past few days. Elisabeth’s format really saved my bacon today.
Just got a text from a friend that she wants to meet up this week, meeting up with another friend for dinner tomorrow. Also, my dad finds out tomorrow about his stem cell treatment, which is the next phase in his cancer recovery. So, lots to look forward to this week.
My dad died on January 24. When I made it a goal to start posting more consistently again, I never expected those to...
I should be prepping and need to get some water in so, to practice productive procrastination, I'm posting/compiling...
I attended the 2025 Pop Culture Association (PCA) Conference because I got a paper accepted. Liveblogged my days at...
Plenty to look forward to this week! Also: TAXES! Crap! Totally forgot about those, and my husband, who always gets all the paperwork together, is out of town until April 3…. I’m really glad this format helped you find a slice for a day when you’d hit the writing wall. I definitely keep a few easy fomats in my back pocket for those days.
