Have I already hit the wall? I might have. But the wall isn’t the challenge itself, just that I’m tired of being on the computer.
I’m going to a seminar so will miss class on Monday, the 16th. That means I’ve spent most of my waking hours today prepping. I have so much prep because my schedule wasn’t finalized until two days before school started, which means that I didn’t get my courses built out as much as I wanted to. Not to mention that I’m using a new program (Hypothesis). It auto-grades, so it’s worth taking the time to set up, but I still have to, you know, set it up. The good news is that once it’s done, I won’t have to redo much, and I am keeping the template pretty much the same for all assignment, but there’s still a little bit of a learning curve.
The other issue is that I’m teaching two similar courses that I wanted to keep on the same schedule, but one of the sections is hybrid, which means I can’t keep it exactly the same because when I only see one class once a week, I have to prioritize different things.
In other words: I’m tired.
But tomorrow is Saturday, and Saturday is the one day of the week I absolutely do not do work, so I’m looking forward to both the break from the computer and thinking about work. And also catching up on posts/comments. I thought I was going to an exhibit tomorrow night, but it turns out I misread the invitation and it was actually tonight. On the plus side, I don’t have to drive across town. On the minus side, I missed the event. Oh well.
This post is a bit of a downer, and I’m getting bored with myself so time to hit publish. They can’t all be winners, alas.

It happens, doesn’t it? The tiredness. The wall. And even out of that the words sprout and the post is born. May the Saturday bring the much needed pause to fuel yourself.
Thank you.
I know that feeling of getting to the end of the week and feeling like your Slicing energy is depleted. But you rallied to let us into your planning life, and I’d never seen Hypothesis before, so checking it out. I’m spending some of my Saturday morning checking out all the amazing Slicers… it feels like a good way to gather new ideas to keep me writing next week!!!
Yes! I did the same this weekend and added a bunch of prompts to my notes app. I love the creativity of this community.
I really enjoyed how you structured this piece–situation, more about the downsides, then the upside. Even if you weren’t feeling it tonight, it was still enjoyable to read!
aw, thank you!
