School starts tomorrow–well, today, technically since it’s after midnight as I’m writing this, and I am feeling…I don’t know. I spent all of last week revising my classes with the help of Microsoft CoPilot after taking a workshop on using AI in education (a post for another time, perhaps). I can’t find my first day slides (PowerPoint) for my creative writing class, and that got me thinking about how my classes don’t change that much, and every first day is about the same, yet I still somehow feel unprepared because I can’t find my stupid slides. It’s especially dumb because I do the same first day activity in all of my classes, so it’s not like it’ll take much to recreate them, but…what if I did do something different in that class last year and now I don’t know what it is because I can’t find my slides?
It’s a conundrum.
Life has been moving very fast lately. A lot of good things have been happening–too many to post about properly right now, when I should be going to bed. I dunno. I am feeling the siren call to blog more often and to stop thinking so much about it and just do it. So that’s what I’m doing now.
I feel like every time I try to do it the way I’m “supposed to,” I wind up not doing it at all. The plight of every recovering perfectionist, I suppose.
Anyway, I’m feeling like I should delete this, so I’m just going to hit post instead. I hope everyone’s school year is off to a fantastic start.

It’s 7:21am which is not my favorite hour and I stayed up until 11:45 and my yesterday didn’t go as planned so I feel the same. My copies ordered way early weren’t ready, my lesson plan felt overwhelming tho it is ALSO the same thing (sort of) but also why do I change everything EVERY SEMESTER (because students cheat and I’m tired.) so kika, I am with you. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve felt the excitement of first day that I used to feel, and I was just reflecting on how that is all about leadership and culture at any “institution” we work at. So blog away however it feels, let’s write more this semester, and fly a little higher. Plus… technology. I officially boycott it (as I read this blog on my
Phone.) plus, people who contribute to feeling bad about ourselves. I boycott them too. P.S. I want to hear about your AI planning adventures and I officially boycott that. Xoxox
